Dr. Rodney Dunetz founder of the Dunetz Wellness Center and Acupuncture Boca Raton talks about Proactive Healthcare versus Reactive Healthcare. Americans spend an estimated $3 trillion on healthcare each year, which is nearly twice the amount of the developed world. Whether it’s going to the doctor for a routine “checkup,” getting a prescription for your back pain, or having a surgical procedure performed, healthcare is downright expensive. But these costs could be significantly reduced if Americans start focusing on proactive healthcare vs reactive healthcare. Dr Rodney Dunetz, DAOM, AP is a Functional Medicine Doctor with a Doctorate in Oriental Medicine, and an Acupuncture Physician in Boca Raton, Florida. There was a time when women's urological problems were just chalked up to advancing age or the result of pregnancy. That's no longer the case as women, and their doctors, are being more proactive with their care. Pelvic floor disorders including urinary incontinence, voiding dysfunction, painful bladder syndromes, bowel incontinence and pelvic organ prolapse are no longer taboo subjects. Often physicians and physical therapists work together for a beneficial solution. Dr. Melissa Huggins, Urogynecologist, and Melissa White, INI Physical Therapist, answered viewers questions on Docs on Call March 4, 2013.

Systems Medicine and Proactive P4 Medicine - Transforming healthcare through scientific wellness: A personal view P4 Medicine: Predictive, Preventive, Personalized and Participatory. The two major objectives of P4 Medicine are to quantify ‘scientific wellness' and demystify disease. Systems biology will revolutionize the practice of healthcare in the coming decades. Medicine today is largely reactive; we wait until a person is sick and then treats a disease, with varying levels of success. A medical revolution will emerge from the convergence of systems biology and the digital revolution’s ability to create consumer devices, generate and analyse “big data” sets and deploy this information through business and social networks. --- Dr. Lee Hood’s outstanding contributions have had a re...

In this video, Athletic Trainer and AMP Recovery Lab director, Mike Stella, demonstrates a full arm care manual therapy session. For pitchers in baseball, regular manual therapy sessions can be a game changer when it comes to durability and injury prevention over the course of a long competitive season. Mike demonstrates the use of myofascial and active release techniques, and Graston Technique (IASTM) with emphasis on their use and efficacy for pitchers. This is an example of a more "general" arm care session, which would be typical for a pitcher to receive in between starts or outings. Check out www.ampathletes.com/recoverylab for more details!
